The latest updates to Xbox apps and consoles include Compact Mode for a better experience on small screens, support for physical and virtual Japanese keyboards, and more for users.

Compact mode: more convenient on small screens

The new feature is the introduction of Compact mode on the Xbox app for PC. Indeed, the latter is now available for all Windows devices, including laptops such as the Lenovo Legion Go. Thanks to this new mode, the user interface is optimized for small screens. To enable this feature, simply click on your profile at the top left of the app and activate Compact mode.

More readable notifications and banners

To make it easier to keep track of updates, the new version of the Xbox app for PC includes an option to show only unread notifications in the drop-down menu. To do so, click on your profile at the top left of the app and select Support.

Updating Xbox consoles

Notable improvements include customizing your preferences on Xbox consoles.

v Japanese Keyboard Support: It is now possible to choose specific layouts for both physical and virtual Japanese keyboards on your console. To change your keyboard settings, press the Xbox button on your wireless controller to open the guide, then go to Settings > System > Language & Location.

v Notifications for free Xbox games: With this update, if a game on your wishlist is part of Xbox Free Days, you'll receive a notification on your console that the game is available for free for a limited time. Also, to create a wishlist, press the Xbox button to open the guide, then go to Store and select Add to Wishlist on a game’s detailed page.

In addition, the management of rewards is done via the My Rewards tab accessible by navigating Profile & System > Your Profile > My Rewards in the guide.

Xbox Wireless Controller Firmware Update
