It's been over a year since leaks suggested that Call of Duty 2024 would take us through the Gulf War. This was confirmed last summer when actor Luke Charles Stafford had to delete a Facebook post after revealing that he had been chosen as a role model for a character named Ratcliffe in the upcoming Treyarch game. That's one of the reasons why today's report should not come as a surprise to those of you who follow the CoD rumors closely.

The generally very reliable Jez Corden of Windows Central claims that Call of Duty 2024 will indeed be a new Black Ops game that will take us to the early 90s and the Gulf War. He thinks Treyarch will follow his new naming convention by simply naming the game Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War after having titled his previous game Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming corroborates these statements.

The fact that the game is set during the Gulf War means that Treyarch could pick up the story where it left off in Black Ops Cold War, since the armed conflict between Iraq and the US-led coalition lasted from 1990 to early 1991. Corden stated that Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War would be centered on the CIA, which makes that assumption even more likely.

And for those who fear Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War will be a sloppy game like this year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III: remember that Treyarch's game has been delayed from 2023 to 2024, which means the studio and its partners have been working on it for four years when it comes out next fall.
