Some fans criticized Time to Kill (TTK) in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, describing it as too long and inconsistent. However, many players still seem to be satisfied with the current TTK in MW3. Fans who wish to avoid the longer TTK can always do so by playing Hardcore mode in MW3.

Modern Warfare 3 players are not satisfied with the game's TTK |
Some fans recently complained about Time to Kill (TTK) in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on social networks. Their complaints are another example of the criticisms voiced by players since the game's release on November 10.
Time to Kill, as the name suggests, is a derived statistic that indicates how long it takes for a given Call of Duty weapon to eliminate an enemy. It depends largely on two basic statistics: damage and fire rate, or shots per minute (RPM) depending on the jargon of the series. At least, that’s the theory; in practice, some Modern Warfare 3 players began criticizing the game’s TTK during the beta, describing it as either too long or frustrating due to its inconsistency.
These complaints did not go away with the official release of the game. On the contrary, a voice section of fans continues to complain about the game’s TTK on social networks, arguing that it significantly harms the overall gaming experience. A Reddit user, nickbarbanera1, recently claimed that unpredictable killing time completely “ruined” the fighting. He also suggested that the inconsistencies in the TTK could be partly caused by poor hit detection, itself due to connectivity issues.
Many players seem to be ok with MW3 TTK as it is
Other players who participated in the discussion suggested that some of TTK’s new problems could be explained by the fact that Sledgehammer did not beef up MW2’s weapons to accommodate the increased health of operators in MW3. In other recent Call of Duty games, non-Hardcore multiplayer modes gave players 100 Health points, while Modern Warfare 3 increased their Health Reserve to 150. Nevertheless, most of the recent Reddit thread criticizing the game’s kill time have a high comment/vote ratio, which is generally indicative of controversial topics and thus suggests that many gamers are satisfied with MW3’s TTK as it currently stands.
Fans Can Avoid Longer Time to Kill by Playing Modern Warfare 3 Hardcore Mode
It is not yet clear whether Sledgehammer intends to change the game's TTK with future updates. In the meantime, there is already a way around this aspect of the game, which is to play in Hardcore mode in Modern Warfare 3. This comes at the expense of most of the user interface, which means that players cannot take advantage of chain signature elements such as minimap and ammo counter. However, Hardcore mode provides a much faster gaming experience, not least because of which the kill time is significantly reduced. Less flexible enemies are not the only benefit of this mode. Hardcore kills also yield more experience points, making them the perfect choice for getting weapons camouflage in Modern Warfare 3. When it comes to reducing TTK, this advantage is mainly due to the fact that operators in mode Hardcore have only 30 health points instead of 150.
