100 million in a WE! The prequel to this saga of SF cartoon at the box office |
Among the movie releases of the moment, you probably know that the Hunger Games saga benefits from a new feature film. Available in cinemas since November 15, it is titled Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Snake and the Singing Bird and is based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins released in May 2020. This is the fifth film after those starring actress Jennifer Lawrence. This prequel is set sixty-four years before the events narrated in the main films and focuses on the character of Coriolanus, considered the last hope of his line. A descendant of the powerful Snow family who had fallen into disgrace, he was assigned to mentor the young Lucy Gray Barid of District 12. The charm of the latter captivated the audience, which prompted Snow to team up with her to restore her coat of arms. Will it be a bird or a serpent? This adventure will lead him to reconsider his concept of good and evil.
This film is not necessarily unanimous for all viewers, with a score of 62% coming from the press and 91% of Internet users on Rotten Tomatoes. Far from meeting the same success as the original films, it achieved a very good score in just a few days. It beats the last Marvel feature!
The latest Hunger Games hits the cinema
During its first weekend of broadcast, Hunger Games: the Ballade du serpent et de l’oeau singur took the lead of the weekend’s box-office. In the United States, this prequel was able to reach $45 million in revenue, ten years after the four films starring Jennifer Lawrence. Internationally, it has also enjoyed some success as it approaches $100 million in the global box office. A score all the same below what had been achieved for the release of each of the previous feature films, each time approaching the 100 million dollars in the box office. In short, this fifth film already does much better than The Marvels with an extremely low start. Between the latest Marvel and the Hunger Games sequel, the spectators have made their choice!
